My Friend Gail

My Friend Gail aka GiGi is a 16 year old thoroughbred mare by Tiznow, out of the mare Celtic Sunshine. During her racing career she had 21 Starts, 2 Wins, 3 Places, 7 Shows with a Career Earnings of $51,076. After her final race in 2014 she began a new career as a broodmare where we believe she had 5 registered foals. After coming up barren in 2022 her broodmare career was over. BTRE found her in a kill pen in Oklahoma. After arriving and being evaluated by our veterinarian, it was found that GiGi has kissing spine disease and moderate arthritis in her stifle. She is sound in a pasture, loves people and other horses. Gets along with everyone and loves attention. GiGi would love to find a home to call her own. She is only suitable for pasture/companion. I’m Not Bluffing

I’m Not Bluffing aka Sierra is a 2010 thoroughbred mare that never raced. BTRE found her in a kill pen in Texas with 26 other horses that were all brought in from the same farm. She had been turned out for 3 years with all these other horses. After arriving at BTRE we found out she was in foal. She did lose her foal in December due to placentitis. Sierra was very leary of humans when first coming to us. After spending time with our trainer and having everyone fuss over her, she has become a very nice, friendly mare that has learned to love cookies. She is currently in training with our trainer Martha Denver and is getting very close to being ridden. Sierra is learning how to lunge, has had a saddle and bridle on.
